As far as home appliances go, this one is a relative newcomer. Although it appeared on the scene much later than refrigerators and washing machines for example, that's not to say it hasn't become one of the must-have appliances in many of our homes today. Whether it's in an effort to reduce our impact on the environment or to help keep those nasty and unpleasant smells out of the trash can, these machines are incredibly helpful tools and they are here to stay.
 
But given what we ask them to do for us day in, day out, it's no real surprise that this crucial appliance can be prone to malfunction from time to time.
